Arthurs Day – recalling the Guinness barges and ships .

The above framed picture was on display at the Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society exhibition during the Tall Ships festival . It belongs to Jimmy Carthy , and shows his father Ned (of St.Marys Road ) in 1958 , along with Guinness Barges and ship . Such vessels would have been well known to Dock residents and workers , and are a recognised as an iconic part of Dublins history.
On Arthurs Day , we are delighted to feature this wonderful image of an East Wall resident, and for those who would like to read more about the Guinness barges and ships , read on .
