Seeking Return of Stolen House Deeds

Following a burglary on Seaview Avenue in December it was discovered that the house deeds were missing. These are of absolutely no value to anybody other than the home owner. If these can be returned it would be much appreciated and will be accepted on a ‘no questions asked’ basis. They can be dropped off anonymously or in person. A small reward will be offered.

One Hundred Years Ago . . .

On this day one hundred years ago municipal elections took place in Dublin . Among the unsuccessful candidates was Caledon Road resident Walter Carpenter (http://eastwallforall.ie/?p=324)  a prominent socialist and Trade unionist.

Pictured above is  Eamon Carpenter ,a grandson of Walter , with a reproduction of 1914 election material.  The East Wall History Group were delighted to meet Eamon recently , where he shared stories about his family and their role during the revolutionary period , including his Grandfather and his own father, Peter , who served in the G.P.O. in 1916.
We will be publishing this material later in the year , which we are sure will make great reading.

East Wall school children and their facial hair – Movember 2013

01 movember

Movember has come to an end, a month of moustachioed madness – and all for a good cause. The now annual event, centred on the growth of excessive facial hair has become a huge success. And such is its popularity that neither gender nor age is a barrier to participation. And East Wall school children played their part.
