“Sean O’Casey lived here – a community remembers” – Video now available

Last year saw the 50th anniversary of the death of playwright Sean O’Casey , an occasion marked by the local community . This 30 minute documentary by Near TV and Eoin McDonnell is a record of the community commemorations . It features performances in the Sean O’Casey Theatre and on the streets he once walked, along with the plaque unveilings on his former home on Hawthorn Terrace and the site of St Barnabas Church . Also includes contributions from local residents and O’Casey fans such as broadcaster Joe Duffy , author and historian Ann Matthews and  professor Christopher Murray ( author of “Sean O’Casey : writer at work”). This is not only testament to the enduring relevance of O’Casey but also an excellent showcase for our community .
